O CUIDADO DE ENFERMAGEM AO IDOSO INSTITUCIONALIZADO COM DEMÊNCIA: RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA DE OFICINAS TERAPÊUTICAS
Objetivo: Relatar experiências vivenciadas por discentes de Enfermagem no desenvolvimento de oficinas terapêuticas no cuidado a idosos institucionalizados com demência. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, elaborado por discentes de graduação em Enfermagem, acerca da execução de atividades extensionistas com idosos residentes em duas Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPI’s) do município de Divinópolis-MG, no período de abril/2018 a março/2019. Resultados e Discussão: Realizou-se ao todo 26 oficinas nas duas instituições. As oficinas terapêuticas (OT) abordaram temas inerentes ao estímulo da autoestima e autocuidado; estimulação psíquica, cognitiva e motora; à educação em saúde; interação social e lazer, com vista na qualidade de vida e bem-estar dos idosos com demência nas instituições. No idoso com demência, a estimulação cognitiva tem o objetivo de ativar as funções existentes para permitir que elas compensem as comprometidas. Considerações Finais: As OT se mostraram importantes alternativas para atender a demanda de cuidado ao idoso institucionalizado com demência, no que diz respeito ao desenvolvimento de atividades que possam favorecer a estimulação psíquica, cognitiva, motora, sensorial e emocional, bem como a interação social. Os discentes puderam vivenciar na prática o manejo do cuidado à pessoa idosa com limitações funcionais, sobretudo com alterações cognitivas, em ambientes de ILPI’s.

Abstract:
Objective: To report experiences lived by nursing students in the development of therapeutic workshops in the care of institutionalized elderly with dementia. Method: This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, prepared by undergraduate nursing students, about the execution of extension activities with elderly people residing in two Long Term Care Institutions for the Elderly (ILPI's) in the city of Divinópolis – Minas Gerais - Brasil, from April / 2018 to March /2019. Results and Discussion: A total of 26 workshops were held at both institutions. Therapeutic workshops addressed themes inherent to the encouragement of self-esteem and self-care; psychic, cognitive and motor stimulation; health education; social interaction and leisure, with a view to the quality of life and well-being of elderly people with dementia in institutions. In the elderly with dementia, cognitive stimulation aims to activate existing functions to allow them to compensate for impaired ones. Considerations Finais: The development of therapeutic workshops proved to be important alternatives to meet the demand for care for institutionalized elderly people with dementia, with regard to the development of activities that can favor psychological, cognitive, motor, sensory and emotional stimulation, as well as social interaction. The students were able to experience in practice the management of care for the elderly with functional limitations, especially the ones with cognitive alterations, in nursing homes.
