Abstract: This article analyzes the trajectory of Indigenous women in positions of power, from their community organizations to their representation in the National Congress, between 1986 and 2023. The increasing prominence of these women reflects a process of resistance and advocacy for rights, recognition, and the appreciation of Indigenous cultures. Since the redemocratization of Brazil and the acquisition of civil and political rights for Indigenous peoples, there has been an organization and mobilization of these women, who have gained significant political spaces, culminating in the presence of some in the National Congress..The analysis starts with Indigenous community organizations, which have been essential in building the political identity of women and in the fight for their rights, especially in confronting a colonialist view that has historically marginalized Indigenous peoples and, more specifically, women. The theoretical framework is based on the works of Arantes (2020), Castillo (2017), Sánchez (2017), and Segatto (2002), which discuss the political protagonism of Indigenous women, their struggles, and the challenges they face. This study aims to understand how Indigenous women have influenced public policies, contributing to a more inclusive and plural Brazil. The research provides a critical analysis of the advances, challenges, and future prospects for Indigenous women in the Brazilian political landscape.
