LITERATURA E RESISTÊNCIA: LAILA HALABY PUBLICA ONCE IN A PROMISED LAND
O objetivo do trabalho é analisar o
romance norte-americano Once in a Promised
Land como uma crítica à propagação de
estereótipos negativos em relação a árabes
e muçulmanos, principalmente imigrantes
dos Estados Unidos no contexto pós Onze de
Setembro. A partir da noção de heterotopia de
Michel de Foucault (1984), o artigo problematiza
o apagamento da projeção identitária híbrida do
árabe-americano denunciada na obra literária

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is
to analyze the American novel Once in the
Promised Land as a critique of the propagation
of negative stereotypes towards Arabs and
Muslims, mainly immigrants from the United
States in the post-September Eleventh
context. Based on the notion of heterotopia
developed by Michel de Foucault (1984), the
article problematizes the erasure of the hybrid
American identity projection denounced in the
literary work.
