Abstract: Management and leadership are essential components of clinical nursing practice, which directly impact the quality of patient care and care outcomes in the hospital setting. In this context, leadership in the field of nursing refers to a professional's ability to inspire, motivate, and lead their teams to achieve common goals. Management relates to the area of administration, including the planning, organization, coordination, and monitoring of resources and processes to deliver effective and safe care. The methodology used was documentary research and indexed databases available in a systematic review conducted over the past five years. The results showed that every nursing leader must possess strong interpersonal skills, efficient communication, ethical decision-making, and a patient-oriented approach that fosters continuous improvement. Furthermore, they should be able to promote a work environment with active participation of the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. Nursing management includes a sufficient distribution of personnel and material resources, evidence-based policies and procedure implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the quality and safety of care. Finally, effective leadership and management are essential to ensuring high-quality clinical practice. These aspects are key to promoting patient safety, improving staff satisfaction, and achieving optimal health outcomes.
