Abstract: The present research aimed to analyze the use of rubrics as an assessment tool to strengthen the development of digital competencies in Ecuadorian students, promoting formative assessment that fosters autonomous learning, critical thinking, and the responsible use of technologies in the educational field. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach. A descriptive-correlational cross-sectional design was applied, since the data were collected at a single point in time to describe teaching practices and determine the possible relationship between the variables. The population consisted of teachers from educational units in Ecuador, including both Basic Education and High School. A stratified probabilistic sampling was applied, ensuring representation from the four regions of the country: Coast, Highlands, Amazon, and Galápagos. A sample of 420 teachers was estimated. The data collection techniques and instruments included a structured questionnaire directed at teachers, with items on a Likert scale. The results showed that the pedagogical use of rubrics is not yet consolidated; it requires teacher training, technological updates, and institutional strategies to achieve effectiveness.
