INTERVENCÕES DE ENFERMAGEM NA PREVENÇÃO DE INFECÇÃO RELACIONADA AO CATETER VENOSO CENTRAL
Os pacientes internados em unidade de terapia intensiva apresentam normalmente, condições que estão relacionadas ao risco de desenvolvimento de infecções relacionadas à saúde, dentre elas, está o uso de cateter venoso central. Nesse contexto, a enfermagem tem papel de destaque na prevenção das possíveis complicações. Objetivo: Refletir acerca das intervenções de enfermagem no tocante à prevenção de infecções relacionadas à utilização de cateter venoso central. Metodologia: Trata-se de um artigo reflexivo realizado a partir da busca da literatura nas bases de dados: MEDLINE, SCIELO e LILACS, no mês de dezembro de 2020 por meio dos descritores: assistência de enfermagem, infecções relacionadas a cateter e cateteres venosos centrais. Resultados: Observou-se no estudo, a importância da enfermagem no processo de prevenção das complicações infecciosas nos pacientes que utilizam o cateter venoso central, visto que na maioria das etapas do processo que envolve a utilização desse cateter, há o envolvimento do profissional de enfermagem. Verificou-se ainda, que sua participação efetiva pode levar a uma diminuição dessas complicações. Conclusão: Nesse sentido, faz-se necessária a implantação de medidas de educação continuada, envolvendo treinamento, conscientização dos envolvidos e verificação periódica dos conhecimentos técnicos da equipe, a fim de evitar as complicações e proporcionar uma assistência de qualidade, contribuindo para a diminuição do tempo de internação, dos custos hospitalares e otimização dos benefícios aos pacientes.

Abstract:
Patients admitted to the intensive care unit usually have conditions that are related to the risk of developing health-related infections, including the use of a central venous catheter. In this context, nursing has a prominent role in preventing possible complications. Objective: To reflect on nursing interventions in terms of preventing infections related to the use of central venous catheters. Methodology: This is a reflective article carried out from the literature search in the databases: MEDLINE, SCIELO and LILACS, in December 2020 through the descriptors: nursing care, catheter-related infections and central venous catheters. Results: It was observed in the study, the importance of nursing in the process of prevention of infectious complications in patients using the central venous catheter, since in most stages of the process that involves the use of this catheter, there is the involvement of the nursing professional. It was also found that their effective participation can lead to a reduction in these complications. Conclusion: In this sense, it is necessary to implement continuing education measures, involving training, awareness of those involved and periodic verification of the technical knowledge of the team, in order to avoid complications and provide quality assistance, contributing to the reduction of length of stay, hospital costs and optimization of patient benefits.
