Abstract: Through methods such as the double-ring infiltrometer, it is possible to determine parameters such as the infiltration rate and the basic infiltration rate, which describe the dynamics of water entering the soil. Infiltration is mainly influenced by soil texture, structure, porosity, aggregate stability, compaction, vegetation cover, and initial soil moisture—factors that affect water flow and hydraulic conductivity. The evaluation procedure includes selecting and preparing the site, installing the concentric rings, supplying water in a controlled manner, and systematically recording the measurements. Data analysis is performed using the Kostiakov model, which applies logarithmic transformations to fit an equation capable of mathematically representing cumulative infiltration over time. Thus, the study of infiltration provides essential information for irrigation system design, irrigation management, and the identification of physical limitations within the soil.
