IMPORTÂNCIA DOS ASSENTAMENTOS PARA O PROCESSO DE REFORMA AGRÁRIA DO MUNICIPIO DE MARABÁ: UM ESTUDO DE CASO
O estudo sobre a criação de assentamentos sustentáveis vem crescendo de forma exponencial, visando uma melhor distribuição e uso de terras no Brasil, principalmente na região Norte, onde encontra-se boa parte das terras sem ocupação. A evolução dos esforços de colonização na Amazônia levou o Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária a criar diversas modalidades de assentamentos, numa tentativa de se adequar às mudanças no cenário de ocupação da Amazônia. Diante das proposições feitas, o referido trabalho teve como objetivo, demonstrar os principais fatores que instigaram a criação dos assentamentos rurais no município de Marabá-Pa, tendo como referência o Projeto de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Porto Seguro. Por conseguinte, seguindo essa perspectiva foi feito um levantamento bibliográfico, por meio de sítios oficiais. Em suma, os assentamentos vêm dar a terra a sua função social, contribuindo diretamente para a evolução nas discussões sobre Reforma Agrária. A relação que há entre as modalidades de assentamentos revela a importância que a terra tem para determinados grupos, assim como pode se transformar em um viés para a sustentabilidade. Além de se constituírem como uma ferramenta para preservação ambiental, já que as famílias beneficiadas pelos projetos, assim como os órgãos e as instituições públicas, buscam disseminar o projeto como meio de educação socioambiental.

Abstract:
The study on the creation of sustainable settlements has been growing exponentially, aiming at a better distribution and land usage in Brazil, mainly in the North region, where great portions of the land is unoccupied. The evolution of colonization efforts in the Amazon led the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform to create several types of settlements, in an attempt to adapt to the scenario changes of Amazon’s occupation. Considering the proposals made, the purpose of this work was to demonstrate the main factors that prompted the creation of rural settlements in the city of Marabá-Pa, having as reference the Porto Seguro Sustainable Development Project. Therefore, following this perspective, a bibliographic survey was made, through official sites. In short, the settlements come to give the land its social function, directly contributing to the evolution in the discussions on Agrarian Reform. The relationship that exists between the types of settlements reveals the importance that the land has for certain groups, as well as it can become a bias towards sustainability. In addition to being a tool for environmental preservation, since the families benefited by the projects, as well as public bodies and institutions, seek to disseminate the project as a means of socio-environmental education.
