Mordida Aberta Anterior (MAA) é

uma discrepância dentária e/ou esquelética

no plano vertical, caracterizada pela ausência

de trespasse dos dentes superiores em

relação aos inferiores. É considerada uma das

alterações mais difíceis de ser tratada, mas,

quando detectada precocemente as chances

de sucesso aumentam. A etiologia da MAA é

multifatorial e está quase sempre associada a

uma desarmonia miofuncional orofacial, seja

por fatores genéticos ou pela ação prolongada

de hábitos bucais deletérios. A eliminação

destes fatores etiológicos é essencial para o

tratamento e estabilidade do caso. O objetivo

deste trabalho é ressaltar a importância da

remoção de hábitos bucais deletérios no

tratamento da MAA, por meio da apresentação

de três casos clínicos.

Abstract:
Anterior Open Bite (MAA) is a

vertical and / or skeletal discrepancy in the

vertical plane, characterized by the absence

of trespasse of the superior teeth in relation

to the inferior ones. It is considered one of the

most difficult changes to be treated, but when

detected early the chances of success increase.

The etiology of AMA is multifactorial and is

almost always associated with an orofacial

myofunctional disharmony, either by genetic

factors or by the prolonged action of deleterious

oral habits. The elimination of these etiological

factors is essential for the treatment and stability

of the case. The objective of this study is to

highlight the importance of removing deleterious

oral habits in the treatment of AOM, through the

presentation of three clinical cases.
