Abstract: Healthy aging is at the top of the global political agenda as a potential means to prevent the collapse of care systems, and communication is essential to this process and must be monitored regarding its various aspects and communicative possibilities. This study aims to review recent scientific literature on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) by active elderly individuals and those in Home Care, identifying their benefits, challenges, and research gaps for promoting active and healthy aging. A narrative literature review was conducted. Search strategies were based on national and international guidelines for systematizing data using the keywords "Information and Communication Technologies" (ICTs) and "active elderly" or "home care elderly." The articles were published between 2020 and 2025. Only five articles in English on the topic were found in PubMed, of which only one matched the scope of the research. The findings highlighted the importance of ICTs, particularly regarding learning capacity, safety, independence, empowerment, coaching values, social isolation, the impact of habit, culture, and education variables, and personalized solutions. These themes are consistent with the framework of active aging and the factors that influence perceived usefulness and potential benefits among older adults. Based on the results, it can be concluded that, within the importance of ICTs, there are well-known but still unresolved issues that may affect the field of ICTs in promoting active and healthy aging.
