IMPACTOS DO CONSUMO EXCESSIVO DE ÁLCOOL EM ESTUDANTES DE MEDICINA: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
O consumo excessivo de álcool é um problema mundial, crescente nas últimas décadas, que ocasiona milhões de mortes anualmente, o que inclui jovens, principalmente da faixa etária ente 15 e 35 anos. Os alunos da área da saúde, principalmente da Medicina, devem merecer um enfoque diferenciado em relação ao uso de álcool pois, futuramente, são eles que levarão as noções básicas de saúde à comunidade. Assim, é importante conhecer o padrão de consumo, as atitudes e o conhecimento em relação a esses tipos de substância entre esses alunos. Foram selecionados 13 artigos para essa revisão de literatura. O consumo de substâncias como álcool pode implicar complicações a curto e longo prazo, algumas irreversíveis como o suicídio; outras consequências, como levar ao consumo de drogas como cocaína, maconha; fracasso acadêmico e a irresponsabilidade, que põe o adolescente em risco de acidentes, violência e relações sexuais inseguras. Portanto, o uso abusivo de álcool pode trazer consequências tanto na saúde do indivíduo, tanto em suas relações sociais. Diversas medidas de intervenção sociais têm sido sugeridas na literatura, para reduzir o impacto do consumo abusivo de álcool nessa população.

Abstract:
Excessive alcohol consumption is a global problem, growing in recent decades, causing millions of deaths annually, which includes young people, mainly in the 15 to 35 age group. Students in the area of health, especially medicine, should deserve a different focus in relation to the use of alcohol because, in the future, they are the ones who will bring the basic notions of health to the community. Thus, it is important to know the consumption pattern, the attitudes and the knowledge regarding these types of substances among these students. For that, 13 articles were selected for this literature review. The consumption of substances such as alcohol can lead to short- and long-term complications, some of which are irreversible, such as suicide; other consequences, such as leading to the consumption of drugs such as cocaine, marijuana; academic failure and irresponsibility, which puts adolescents at risk for accidents, violence and unsafe sexual relationships. Therefore, the abusive use of alcohol can have consequences both on the individual's health and on their social relationships. Several social intervention measures have been suggested in the literature to reduce the impact of alcohol abuse in this population.
