Abstract: Recognizing the importance of ecosystem services provided by corals In coastal areas, there is a need for information to design Strategies for sampling, zoning and delimitation of marine areas for their protection. In this way, it is possible to understand and predict the spatial distribution of reefs and detect environmental changes that affect them (Costa et al., 2009). In order to identify the coral reefs of the northwest of Providencia Island. Based on the use of bathymetric data, the geoforms of the seabed are studied in three dimensions and determine the possible areas of interest, a model is generated of the terrain with backscatter data in the raised area that exposes the Solidity values of the substrate and the cartographic map of the coral zones is analyzed, based on the results obtained from the digital models and return intensities obtained. In an exploratory and descriptive manner, tools are used to characterize the Seabed, identifying the key formations that define the object of study. Data were collected during two field days, following the 92-line plan survey or transects aboard a boat with multibeam echosounder, data are recorded and processed. Finally, from the maps generated, the identification of geoforms is achieved associated with coral reefs in less time, with less effort and greater precision, compared to other techniques used so far.
