HIGIENE DE MÃOS: ESTRATÉGIAS PARA AUMENTAR A ADESÃO E PROMOVER A SEGURANÇA DO PACIENTE
As Infecções Relacionadas à Assistência de Saúde (IRAS) podem ser consideradas uma crise de saúde pública. Estudos oferecem evidências de que a prática de higiene de mãos leva a uma redução de IRAS. No entanto, a adesão dos profissionais de saúde à HM permanece baixa. Esta revisão de literatura busca conhecer estratégias para aumentar a adesão à HM a fim de diminuir as IRAS e promover a segurança do paciente. Realizou-se busca por artigos na base de dados PUBMED e BIREME com os descritores (Hand Washing AND Patient Safety OR adherence OR strategy) e (lavagem de mãos AND segurança do paciente OR adesão OR estratégia) respectivamente. Foram inclusos artigos de estudos nos idiomas Português, Inglês ou Espanhol; entre os anos de 2011 a 2021; com texto completo disponível e os descritores deveriam estar presentes no título dos estudos. A seleção ocorreu por meio da leitura dos resumos com uma análise detalhada dos temas abordados para determinar os estudos para serem lidos na íntegra e incluídos nesta revisão. Foi recuperado um total de 229 artigos. Após aplicação dos critérios de inclusão restaram 107 artigos. Seguiu-se leitura do resumo destes 107 artigos, dos quais foram selecionados 35 para leitura na íntegra e 08 obtiveram o aceite final apresentando relevância ao tema proposto. A maior parte dos resultados obtidos através dos estudos incluídos nesta revisão evidencia aumento da adesão à HM após as intervenções. Os achados evidenciam a necessidade de desenvolver estratégias inovadoras que, associadas às ações educativas, favoreçam o comprometimento dos profissionais com a HM promovendo assim a diminuição das IRAS e fortalecendo a cultura de segurança do paciente nas instituições de assistência à saúde.

Abstract:
Healthcare associated infections can be considered a public health crisis. Studies offer evidence that the practice of hand washing (HW) leads to a reduction in healthcare associated infections. However, health professionals' adherence to HW remains low. This literature review seeks to find out strategies to increase HW adherence in order to reduce infections and promote patient safety. A search was performed for articles in the PUBMED and BIREME database with the descriptors (Hand Washing AND Patient Safety OR adherence OR strategy) and (lavagem de mãos AND segurança do paciente OR adesão OR estratégia) respectively. Study articles in Portuguese, English or Spanish were included; between the years 2011 to 2021; with full text available and descriptors should be present in the title of the studies. The selection occurred by reading the abstracts with a detailed analysis of the topics covered to determine the studies to be read in full and included in this review. A total of 229 articles were retrieved. After applying the inclusion criteria, 107 articles remained. This was followed by reading the abstract of these 107 articles, of which 35 were selected for reading in full and 08 obtained the final acceptance presenting relevance to the proposed theme. Most of the results obtained through the studies included in this review show an increase in adherence to HW after the interventions. The findings show the need to develop innovative strategies that, associated with educational actions, favor the commitment of professionals to HW, thus promoting the reduction of healthcare associated infections and strengthening the culture of patient safety in health care institutions.
