Abstract: The production of goats is rising in Brazil, especially in the Northeast region. However, haemonchosis, caused by the nematode Haemonchus contortus, is a serious problem in livestock farming, leading to mortality and a reduction in the quality of products (meat and milk). In light of this, the aim of the study was to ivestigate the most the study aimed to investigate the most commonly used treatments and management practices by producers in the Brazilian Northeast for controlling Haemonchus contortus in goats. The study is an integrative literature review covering the period from 2019 to 2024. Six key articles addressing the topic were included in the analysis. The identification of moxidectin as the most effective anthelmintic, together with the development of health management software, are invaluable tools for controlling helminths and improving animal health. Additionally, the discovery of immunogenic peptide sequences opens new avenues for vaccine development, which could reduce reliance on medications and lower production costs. There is a pressing need to increase investment in research on haemonchosis, focousing on the development of more precise and rapid diagnostic tools, the creation of effective vacines using ‘omics’ technologies, the study of anthelmintic resistence, and the exploration of new therapeutic options. In conclusion, the integration of various actions, such as research, education and monitoring is essential for the effective control of haemonchosis, benefiting both animal health and livestock production.
