GESTÃO AMBIENTAL DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS URBANOS ESTRATIFICADA POR TERRITÓRIOS DE DESENVOLVIMENTO EM MINAS GERAIS
A gestão ambiental adequada dos Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos (RSU) em Minas Gerais é considerada estratégica para o desenvolvimento econômico sustentável do Estado, que vem sendo desenvolvida por meio de iniciativas que estimulam a atuação dos municípios no sentido de otimizá-la. Objetivando adequar a gestão municipal dos RSU às premissas legais estabelecidas, o cenário da destinação dos RSU em Minas Gerais passou por significativa evolução. Em 2001, apenas 30 municípios se encontravam em situação regularizada, representando 27,2% da população urbana do Estado; já em dezembro de 2018, foram contabilizados 391 municípios regularizados, que abrigavam 61,87% da população urbana. Até junho de 2019, 392 municípios se encontram em situação regularizada, representando 62,13% da população urbana do Estado. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a situação, verificada até dezembro de 2018, estratificada pelos 17 Territórios de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais, quanto aos sistemas de destinação dos RSU adotados pelos municípios mineiros, citando, ainda, as alterações deste cenário ocorridas até junho de 2019, constituindo-se em ferramenta de acompanhamento e avaliação de resultados, em apoio ao aprimoramento de ações de Estado para o fomento às práticas de adequação da gestão ambientalmente sustentável dos RSU e, dessa forma, promovendo a melhoria da qualidade ambiental em Minas Gerais. Com base nesse desempenho, o Estado tem definido estratégias diferenciadas junto aos territórios, impulsionando a implementação de soluções adequadas às realidades locais.

Abstract:
The appropriate enviromental management of Urban Solid Waste in Minas Gerais is considerated strategic for the sustainable economic development of the State, which has being developed by initiatives that stimulate the action of the counties in sense of optimizing it. Looking for adapt the municipal management of Urban Solid Waste to the legal premises established, the scenery for the desposition of Urban Solid Waste in Minas Gerais got through a significant evolution. In 2001, only 30 municipalities were in a regularized situation, representing 27.2% of the urban population of the state; already in December 2018, were 391 regularized municipalities, which housed 61.87% of the urban population. Up until June 2019, 392 municipalities are in a regularized situation, representing 62.13% of the urban population of the state. The purpose of this article is to present the situation, verified until December 2018, stratified by the 17 Territories of Development of Minas Gerais, regarding the disposal systems adopted by the municipalities of Minas Gerais, also mentioning changes in this scenario occurred until June 2019, constituting a tool for monitoring and evaluation of results, in support of the improvement of state actions fostering the adaptation practices of environmentally sustainable management of Urban Solid Waste and thereby promoting the improvement of environmental quality in Minas Gerais. Based on this performance, the State has defined different strategies within the territories, driving the implementation of solutions appropriate to local realities and considering the economic and social weaknesses of each region.
