Abstract: This article analyzes the implementation and pedagogical impacts of the course “Citizenship, Sociodiversity, and Social Commitment,” a mandatory curricular component of undergraduate programs at the University of Vassouras, with a focus on the off-campus units in Maricá and Saquarema. The course was designed to meet legal requirements for the inclusion of content related to human rights, ethnic-racial diversity, the environment, gender, and citizenship, as established by the LDB, Laws No. 10.639/2003 and No. 11.645/2008, and Resolution CNE/CP No. 1/2012. Structured into 16 learning units with digital resources, synchronous sessions, and culminating in a thematic event, the experience was evaluated through student surveys, whose results indicate high acceptance of the proposal and suggest paths for deepening and connecting with specific areas of study. The analysis demonstrates that embedding content focused on critical citizenship and social justice strengthens the role of the university as a space for comprehensive and democratic education.
