Abstract: Introduction: Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) is an effective treatment for severe obesity, but the influence of demographic factors on weight loss is still debated. Objective: To analyze the influence of age, ethnicity, and place of residence on weight loss after RYGB in women. Methods: Retrospective study with 150 women undergoing RYGB. The variation in Body Mass Index (BMI) was evaluated at 5 time points: preoperative (T1), 30 days (T2), 3 months (T3), 6 months (T4), and 12 months (T5) post-surgery. The influence of demographic factors on BMI variation was analyzed using a mixed linear model. Results: The mean age was 43.69±9.87 years. Most were white (73.3%) and lived in urban areas (92%). There was a significant reduction in BMI at all time points (p<0.001). Age, ethnicity, and place of residence did not significantly influence BMI variation (p>0.05). Conclusion: RYGB resulted in significant weight loss in women, regardless of age, ethnicity, or place of residence, over 12 months.
