Abstract: This qualitative, descriptive, and interpretative study analyzes the changes in thesis publication practices within the Doctorate in Education program of the Graduate School at the Faculty of Humanities, University of San Carlos of Guatemala, between the years 2014 and 2024. Through document review, surveys, and a focus group, significant transformations were identified in the academic publishing culture. The findings reveal an evolution from unfavorable perceptions—linked to slow processes and limited institutional support—toward more structured, supported, and successful experiences. There is clear evidence of an increasing diversity of publication channels, with greater presence in indexed journals and international platforms. Factors such as institutional support, clarity of editorial criteria, and training in scientific writing have positively influenced this process. It is concluded that the program has strengthened its publishing culture, promoting greater visibility and quality in the dissemination of research results, although challenges remain regarding access, technical training, and the consolidation of sustained publishing practices.
