Abstract: This chapter provides a comprehensive analysis of academic achievement in secondary schools in Tamaulipas, using data from key sources such as PLANEA (2015-2019) and APRENDE Tamaulipas (2023-2024) with a methodological approach of quantitative analysis using correlations and linear regression. This allows us to establish relationships between variables such as the type of institution (public or private) and levels of academic achievement. Data is obtained from PLANEA, which assesses reading comprehension and textual skills at four performance levels. Results from APRENDE Tamaulipas are also incorporated, providing an updated picture of academic performance. Overall trends in academic performance are examined, highlighting persistent differences between public and public schools that reveal important patterns. It provides comparative evidence of differences in academic performance between public and public schools that seek to understand the dynamics that influence academic achievement in different school contexts. The analysis provides valuable tools for evaluating the effectiveness of education policies and provides insight into the characteristics of the state education system over an extended period.
