Abstract: Job stress is a phenomenon that significantly affects the well-being of workers and the efficiency of organizations. This study aimed to determine the relationship between work stress and personality traits of workers in a provincial municipality in Peru. A non-experimental design of correlational scope was used, with a sample of 76 municipal workers. The instruments applied were the ILO/WHO Work Stress Questionnaire and the Big Five Personality Inventory. The results showed that personality trait neuroticism correlated positively with job stress (r = 0.319); conscientiousness presented a significant negative correlation with job stress (r = -0.480); agreeableness also correlated positively with job stress (r = 0.579) and no significant correlation was found between openness and job stress. It is concluded that it is important to consider personality traits in the design of stress management strategies and promotion of work wellbeing. It is recommended to implement personalized interventions that address the specific needs of workers according to their personality profile.
