Abstract: Chronic rhinosinusitis, especially when associated with nasal polyps, is a challenging inflammatory condition that impacts patients' quality of life. Corticosteroids, both topical and oral, play a crucial role in treatment by providing significant relief from inflammatory symptoms and improving nasal function. Topical corticosteroids, such as budesonide and fluticasone, are effective in reducing symptoms and polyp size with fewer systemic side effects. For severe cases, combining topical corticosteroids with oral corticosteroids can be beneficial, although it is essential to balance efficacy with the risk of adverse effects, such as adrenal suppression. Other therapies, like leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs), also show additional benefits. The therapeutic approach should be individualized and monitored, considering the severity of the disease and potential side effects, with a combination of topical and oral treatments often providing optimized relief.
