Abstract: The acronym ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) comprises the practices to manage risks developed by a company regarding the environmental, social and governance aspects. The greater the commitment of a company to the ESG and the sustainable development aspects greater its reputation in the market and among the stakeholders. To provide clarity about the evolution of this topic, the organizations related to the chain of animal-derived products are increasingly sharing information regarding their production processes through sustainability reports and published policies. In addition, these companies have assumed public commitments associated to the sustainable development, demonstrating their responsibility to the planet and society. Overall, adopting an ESG agenda is fundamental to demonstrate to the stakeholders the business’ safety, minimize the risks, foster the integration of society and industry, and ensure ecosystem care. Furthermore, the implementation of ESG practices in the companies related to the chain of animal-derived products represents a strategy to enhance reliability and transparency with the stakeholders, being a competitive advantage that can positively impact business consolidation and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the ONU (SDG).
