Abstract: The challenge for tutors regarding the psychosocial factors affecting young people is crucial, as these factors can significantly impact their academic performance and overall well-being. Tutors must be able to identify, understand, and address these issues faced by students in order to provide effective mentoring and promote a supportive and holistic environment for student development. This requires not only theoretical knowledge about adolescence and teaching strategies, but also skills for empathy, effective communication, and building a bond of trust with students. This research analyzes the psychosocial factors that influence the academic performance of Metallurgy students from January to July 2025. The study sample consisted of 98 students from a population of 400 students enrolled in the morning and afternoon shifts, 35 males and 15 females, enrolled in their sixth semester at the upper secondary level. The methodology used was a mixed-method, cross-sectional study. A questionnaire was developed to collect data and identify psychosocial factors associated with students' poor academic performance.
