Abstract: The objective of the research was to identify aspects of the diversity of gender identities, orientations and sexual practices in a sample of university students in the state of Campeche, Mexico. The sample was made up of 591 students from two Higher Education Institutions aged between 17 and 34 years. An ad hoc questionnaire was used where participants identified, on the one hand, their sex recorded at birth on their birth certificate and, on the other hand, their self-perceived gender identity. The questionnaire explores five aspects that explore the following: 1. Sexual taste or attraction, 2. Emotional or romantic taste/attraction, 3. Falling in love, 4. Erotic/romantic fantasies or dreams and 5. Sexual activity/relationships. The data were analyzed using the Jamovi program. A statistical analysis of dependency between qualitative variables was carried out. The results show significant dependencies (p<.05) between self-perceived identities and sexual orientations, fantasies, infatuations and practices. At the same time, a higher percentage of people were identified who do not identify with the sex registered at birth, compared to official estimates as trans, gender fluid, non-binary or others. Finally, a clear differentiation and variability is evident between orientation, fantasies, falling in love and erotic-affective practice.
