EDUCAÇÃO INFORMAL E EXPERIÊNCIA MIGRATÓRIA: INVESTIGAÇÃO SOBRE SÉNIORES RESIDENTES EM VIANA DO CASTELO
Nas sociedades atuais a educação assume um papel de importância estratégica. A literatura na área das ciências sociais e das ciências da educação coloca em evidência a importância da educação ao longo da vida. Também se verifica que outros dois fenómenos caraterizam as sociedades do presente: o envelhecimento demográfico crescente e a globalização económica e cultural que se expande a todas as áreas do mundo. A globalização implica, entre outras coisas, um movimento de pessoas que migram de e para diferentes pontos do globo. Portugal tem uma população com vasta experiência migratória e tem também uma população cada vez mais envelhecida, sendo as gerações dos mais velhos as menos escolarizadas. Efetuamos uma investigação, à luz de pressupostos teóricos construtivistas e do curso de vida, sobre um grupo de seniores com passado migratório, atualmente residentes no espaço urbano da cidade de Viana do Castelo. No contexto da referida investigação, recolhemos informação através de entrevistas, onde nos foram narradas experiências de vida migratória e aprendizagens feitas, onde nos foram relatadas situações de vida e aspirações na atualidade. Procuramos perceber quais foram as aprendizagens feitas pelos seniores, através da educação informal, durante as suas trajetórias de vida, e como é que tais aprendizagens podem ter contribuído para as situações de elevada autonomia detetadas. Concluímos que a experiência migratória e intercultural influência o envelhecimento autónomo.

Abstract:
In today's societies, education assumes a strategic role. Literature in the field of social sciences and educational sciences highlights the importance of lifelong education. It is also seen that two other phenomena characterize the societies of the present: the growing demographic aging and the economic and cultural globalization that expands to all areas of the world. Globalization implies, among other things, a movement of people who migrate to and from different parts of the globe. Portugal has a population with extensive migratory experience and also has an increasingly aging population, with older generations being the least educated. We carried out an investigation, in the light of constructivist theoretical assumptions and the course of life, on a group of seniors with a migratory past, currently residing in the urban space of the city of Viana do Castelo. In the context of the referred investigation, we collected information through interviews, where we were told experiences of migratory life and learning made, where we were reported about life situations and aspirations. We try to understand what the seniors learned through informal education during their life trajectories, and how such learning may have contributed to the situations of high autonomy detected. We conclude that the migratory and intercultural experience influences autonomous aging.
