EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE SOBRE OS CUIDADOS AO COTO UMBILICAL DO RECÉM-NASCIDO: ANÁLISE DA PRODUÇÃO DE ENFERMAGEM

• Abstract: The research aimed to review the current state of Education in Health on the care of the umbilical stump in newborns. Using a Scoping Review, following international guidelines such as PRISMA-ScR and Joanna Briggs Institute, five steps were followed: formulation of the question research, search for relevant studies, selection, analysis and synthesis of data. The review covered studies published between 2013 and 2023 in Portuguese, Spanish and English available in free full text, exploring the LILACS, BDENF, SciELO databases, as well as literature gray like Google Scholar and thesis repositories. were identified five studies, predominantly from Brazil and one from Africa, with only two carried out in the last five years. The research revealed several strategies educational, including multimedia, conversation circles, expository classes, simulations and educational booklets. A significant finding was the lack of knowledge among pregnant and postpartum women, highlighting the need to evidence-based educational interventions to demystify beliefs about the care of the umbilical stump. Nurses were appointed as fundamental in promoting autonomy through welcoming, horizontal communication and education during prenatal and puerperium, enabling caregivers for informed and effective care.
