E no caminho tinha algas... faz parte do levantamento florístico das algas marinhas bentônicas dos estados do Piauí e Maranhão, desenvolvido pelo Laboratório de Ficologia da Universidade Estadual do Piauí. Os exemplares foram provenientes de coletas realizadas nas praias do Coqueiro, litoral piauiense e praia do Araçagi no Maranhão. O material foi coletado, triado e fixado, seguindo-se as técnicas usuais em ficologia marinha. Para identificação taxonômica, os estudos basearam-se no aspecto geral de cada exemplar e de suas estruturas morfoanatomicas. Através da análise foram reconhecidas e ilustrados 18 (dezoito) Gêneros, distribuídos em seis (06) exemplares de Phaeophyta – algas pardas: Sargassum, Padina, Dictyota, Dictyopteris, Lobophora, Spatoglossum; sete (07) de Rhodophyta – algas vermelhas: Solieria, Botryocladia, Bostrychia, Hypnea, Corallina, Ceramium, Rhodymenia e cinco (05) de Chlorophyta – algas verdes: Ulva, Codium, Valonia, Caulerpa e Acetabularia.

Abstract:
And on the way there was algae... it is part of the floristic survey of benthic marine algae in the states of Piauí and Maranhão, developed by the Phycology Laboratory of the State University of Piauí. The specimens came from collections carried out on the beaches of Coqueiro, Piauí coast and Araçagi beach in Maranhão. The material was collected, sorted and fixed, following the usual techniques in marine ficology. For taxonomic identification, the studies were based on the general appearance of each specimen and its morphoanatomical structures. Through the analysis, 18 (eighteen) genera were recognized and illustrated, distributed in six (06) Phaeophyta – brown algae: Sargassum, Padina, Dictyota, Dictyopteris, Lobophora, Spatoglossum; seven (07) of Rhodophyta – red algae: Solieria, Botryocladia, Bostrychia, Hypnea, Corallina, Ceramium, Rhodymenia, and five (05) of Chlorophyta – green algae: Ulva, Codium, Valonia, Caulerpa and Acetabularia.
