Abstract: The reflections proposed in this article surround the importance and challenges of building and developing an active and participatory teaching and learning process for all children inserted in the school environment. The text brings some reflections on the diversity that the teacher finds in a classroom and the way it should be conducted, endorsing the methodologies worked and the importance of public policies aimed at assistentialism for the inclusion of children with disabilities. The methodology was developed [1]through a bibliographic study endorsing some authors and researchers who developed research in this area. The results show that the educational system has evolved considerably over the years, but still needs many adjustments, mainly because it is a process that is constantly changing, as it needs to adapt to the needs of students, to ensure an active and participatory teaching and learning process.
