DISFUNÇÕES DO OUVIDO INTERNO CAUSADAS POR ALTERAÇÕES METABÓLICAS DA GLICEMIA
Este trabalho é uma revisão sobre artigos referentes às disfunções do ouvido interno por alterações metabólicas da glicemia dos últimos 20 anos. Tendo em vista que pequenas flutuações do nível glicêmico sanguíneo podem trazer alterações na orelha interna (cóclea e labirinto), este artigo tem como objetivo mostrar a relação direta entre hipo/hiperglicemia e alterações bioquímicas celulares levando a sintomas auditivos e vestibulares. Após avaliação destes artigos, conclui-se que doenças que desencadeiam tanto a hipoglicemia como hiperglicemia são causas comuns de doenças do ouvido interno, levando a sintomas como hipoacusia, tonturas e zumbido. Portanto, pacientes que apresentem estes sintomas são indicativos de investigação para doenças que causam alterações na glicemia, como hipoglicemia reativa e diabetes mellitus.

Abstract:
This work is a review on articles concerning internal ear dysfunctions due to metabolic alterations of glycemia in the last 20 years. Considering that small fluctuations in the blood glucose level can bring changes in the inner ear (cochlea and labyrinth) this article aims to show the direct relationship between hypo / hyperglycemia and cellular biochemical alterations leading to auditory and vestibular symptoms. After evaluation of these articles it is concluded that diseases that trigger both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia are common causes of diseases of the inner ear, leading to symptoms such as hypoacusis, dizziness and tinnitus. Therefore, patients presenting with these symptoms are indicative of investigation for diseases that cause changes in glycemia, such as reactive hypoglycemia and diabetes mellitus.
