DIFICULTADES, OBSTÁCULOS Y ERRORES ASOCIADOS AL INFINITO EN ESTUDIANTES DE ÚLTIMO AÑO DE PEDAGOGÍA EN MATEMÁTICA
Esta comunicación tiene por objeto mostrar los resultados obtenidos en el trabajo final de graduación de Magíster en Didáctica de la Matemática el cual consistió en un estudio de las dificultades, los obstáculos y los errores en dos grupos de estudiantes de último año de Pedagogía en matemática de dos universidades chilenas con respecto al infinito. Para tal efecto se aplicó un instrumento con diferentes problemas en los que está involucrado dicho objeto matemático. Los principales resultados obtenidos demuestran una fuerte tendencia de reconocer solo el infinito potencial, especialmente en situaciones en las que el infinito en lo pequeño se manifiesta. Por otro lado, se reconoce el obstáculo epistemológico de la intuición geométrica en los procesos infinitos de divisibilidad y en la noción de límite. Además, emergen obstáculos asociados a la generalización de las propiedades de los procesos finitos a los infinitos y a considerar el valor de un límite como una aproximación.

Abstract:
This communication aims to show the results obtained within the Master’s Degree in Mathematics’ Didactics final graduation work, which consisted in a study of the difficulties, obstacles and errors in two groups of Mathematics’ Pedagogy senior students from two Chilean universities in regard to infinity. To reach such purpose, an instrument was applied with different problems in which said mathematical object is involved. The main results obtained show a strong tendency to recognize only the potential infinity, particularly in situations where infinity in the small manifests. On the other hand, there is a reckoning of the epistemological obstacle of geometric intuition in the infinite processes of divisibility and in the notion of limit. Additionally, obstacles emerge associated both with the generalization of the properties of finite processes to infinity and with the consideration of the value of a limit as an approximation.
