DESENVOLVIMENTO DE PRODUTO REPELENTE NATURAL CONTENDO O ÓLEO ESSENCIAL DE ALECRIM (Rosmarinus officinalis L.)
O número de doenças que são transmitidas por insetos como mosquitos crescem a cada ano, e com isso, mostra-se a importância dos repelentes como um método de controle. Os repelentes à base de plantas são alternativas que vem se mostrando eficazes, além de proporcionar maior segurança de uso e redução de danos ambientais. Um dos repelentes mais utilizados no mundo todo hoje, é um composto sintético conhecido como DEET, porém este pode causar algumas desvantagens para saúde e para o meio ambiente. Assim, novas substâncias com ação repelente têm sido estudadas, sendo uma delas o óleo essencial de alecrim (Rosmarinus officinalis L.). Sendo assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver formulações repelentes contendo o óleo essencial de alecrim e avaliar sua estabilidade. Foram desenvolvidas duas formulações, uma na forma de creme e outra na forma de loção, nas quais se adicionou o óleo essencial de alecrim. As formulações desenvolvidas foram submetidas ao controle de qualidade e de estabilidade acelerada durante um período de 60 dias. As formulações apresentaram qualidade e estabilidade adequadas dentro do período de análise. Sendo assim, posteriormente as formulações poderão ser utilizadas em estudos clínicos, para comprovar a eficácia quanto à ação repelente do óleo essencial de alecrim e ser uma alternativa de repelente natural.

Abstract:
The number of diseases that are transmitted by insects such as mosquitoes grows every year, and with that, it shows the importance of repellents as a method of control. Plant-based repellents are alternatives that have been shown to be effective, in addition to providing greater safety of use and reducing environmental damage. One of the most widely used repellents in the world today, it is a synthetic compound known as DEET, however this can cause some disadvantages for health and the environment. Thus, new substances with repellent action have been studied, one of them the rosemary essential oil (Rosmarinus officinalis L.). Thus, the objective of this work was to develop repellent formulations containing rosemary essential oil and to evaluate stability of the formulations. Two formulations were developed, one in the form of cream and the other in the form of lotion, in which essential oil was added. The formulations developed were subjected to quality control and accelerated stability over a period of 60 days. The formulations presented adequate quality and stability within the analysis period. Therefore, the formulations may later be used in clinical studies to verify the efficacy of repellent action of the products and and be an alternative to a natural repellent.
