Abstract: Designing habitable and comfortable public spaces is the challenge for designers, given the impact these have on the quality of life of the population, especially in tropical cities like Cali, with a hot dry climate, and with a quantitative and qualitative deficit in these areas. spaces. The design of urban space has focused on its aesthetic and technical values. However, in the current scenario of scarcity of resources, the need to include thermal performance in public space and the heat island effect in future climate change scenarios is considered urgent. This contribution proposes to determine the thermal behavior of two public spaces under two different thermal conditions (exposed to the sun and in the shade) in a university campus, which present a temperature difference of up to 4°C. The methodology makes use of on-site measurements with specialized equipment to define the current situation, and thermal simulations with the SunHours plugin associated with Scketch up to validate performance over time in order to determine the ranges of comfort and well-being applicable to public space. , the thermal behavior of the most used materials in space over time to mitigate their impact in a climate change scenario
