Abstract: During the Master's in Education Science at Universidad del Sol (UNADES), a qualitative ethnographic case study was conducted, titled Scientific Initiation in the Daily Life of Basic Education Schools: a case study at Visconde de Cairu School – Lages (SC). The research analyzed the school community's representations of Scientific Initiation (SI) as a pedagogical tool, following a participatory action-research project involving 100 high school students, resulting in 97 validated interviews. The methodology included participant observation from project planning to its culmination (August to November 2023), complemented by interviews with 26 participants (students, teachers, community members, and local authorities) and document analysis of educational policies. Grounded in authors such as Adorno and Horkheimer, Bourdieu, Demo, and Arroyo, the study demonstrated that SI fosters critical, active, and investigative learning, generating authentic and original knowledge. The findings highlight SI's potential to enhance teacher and student training, strengthen school-community ties, and inform public policies, reinforcing the need to integrate research into the daily routine of basic education.
