DEMÊNCIA NOS ESPORTES COM TRAUMATISMO CRANIANO REPETIDO
As lesões traumáticas ocasionadas em decorrência dos traumatismos cranianos podem gerar repercussões funcionais e anatômicas, caracterizadas por comprometimentos leves a severos. Dentre as consequências apresentadas pelos pacientes com traumatismos repetitivos, temos a demência, com limitações de funções como memória, velocidade de processamento de informações, atenção e função executiva. Este estudo trata-se de uma revisão de literatura nas bases de dados PUBMED, SCIELO, MEDLINE e LILACS. Os artigos foram selecionados com base nos descritores nos idiomas inglês, espanhol e português, publicados em periódicos científicos nos últimos dez anos, a partir primeiramente da seleção de títulos e resumos e posteriormente, a leitura dos artigos na íntegra. Foram encontrados 38 artigos nas bases de dados pesquisadas, sendo que destes, 10 foram incluídos inicialmente pela aplicação da leitura do título e resumo, e a partir da leitura na íntegra, apenas 6 estudos foram inclusos neste artigo. É importante ressaltar a ausência de estudos longitudinais abordando a incidência das demências ocasionadas por traumatismos repetitivos, assim como uma maior conscientização sobre este tipo de lesão e seu comprometimento a longo prazo na vida dos atletas.

Abstract:
Traumatic injuries caused as a result of head injuries can generate functional and anatomical repercussions, characterized by mild to severe impairments. Among the consequences presented by patients with repetitive trauma, we have dementia, with limitations of functions such as memory, information processing speed, attention and executive function. This study is a literature review in the PUBMED, SCIELO, MEDLINE and LILACS databases. The articles were selected based on the descriptors in English, Spanish and Portuguese, published in scientific journals in the last ten years, based on the selection of titles and abstracts and later, the reading of the articles in full. 38 articles were found in the researched databases, and of these, 10 were initially included by applying the title and abstract reading, and from the full reading, only 6 studies were included in this article. It is important to emphasize the absence of longitudinal studies addressing the incidence of dementia caused by repetitive trauma, as well as a greater awareness of this type of injury and its long-term commitment to the lives of athletes.
