Abstract: In a general way, this chapter takes a historical overview of the world economic order, with the aim of presenting the signs that could be determining factors to explain the emergence of a new world order. Likewise, it briefly presents, in the authors' opinion, the potential implication of this, global de-dollarization. Therefore, it takes as its starting point the Bretton Woods conference that devised not only the rules of the game for the participating economies in the order of the international system of the second post-war period, but also created the fundamental institutions for its functioning: International Bank of Reconstruction and Development – IBRD (today World Bank – WB), the International Monetary Fund – IMF and the World Trade Organization – WTO; each organism with specific occupations.
