Abstract: The increasing prevalence of diabetes in the elderly poses a significant public health challenge. This study reviewed the literature on diabetes management in the elderly, focusing on the influence of lifestyle. The methodology involved an integrative literature review, using the PubMed and Regional Portal of the Ministry of Health's BVS databases, with defined inclusion and exclusion criteria to select relevant studies. The results highlight the importance of a holistic approach, including a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and the use of technology, to improve glycemic control and quality of life in elderly individuals with diabetes. Socioeconomic and behavioral factors also play an important role in disease management. The discussion addresses the need for policy interventions and awareness campaigns, as well as psychosocial aspects such as mental health and sleep quality. In conclusion, a healthy lifestyle can positively influence diabetes control in the elderly, but personalized interventions and public health policies are needed to optimize health outcomes and improve the quality of life of this vulnerable population.
