Abstract: This study investigated the knowledge and application of hypodermoclysis among nurses in a Federal University Hospital (HUF) in the Brazilian Northeast. Hypodermoclysis, a subcutaneous technique for administering solutions and medications, is recognized for its therapeutic feasibility, especially when other routes are contraindicated. It is a quantitative exploratory and descriptive research involving 20 nurses from HUF. The data indicated that although all participants claimed to be familiar with the technique, only 40% applied it, and only 20% received specific training. The lack of institutional protocols was highlighted by 85% of the participants. Nurses demonstrated limited knowledge of medications and solutions associated with hypodermoclysis. The findings suggest the urgent need for interventions, such as targeted training programs, to improve knowledge and application of hypodermoclysis. Additionally, the implementation of institutional protocols is crucial to guide clinical practice and ensure patient safety. The study acknowledges its limitations, such as a restricted sample, and emphasizes the importance of future research and inter-institutional collaborations for a deeper understanding and effective implementation of hypodermoclysis in clinical practice.
