Abstract: This article examines the evolution of the labor market in Montería, Córdoba, from 2008 to 2023, focusing on changes in employment sources and sectoral dynamics. Using data from the Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH), the study analyzes indicators such as the Labor Force Participation Rate, Employment Rate, and Unemployment Rate, along with gender and age group disparities. The findings reveal a significant decline in labor participation during the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a slow recovery. Key sectors like commerce and personal services remain dominant, with recent growth in cultural and entertainment activities. However, challenges persist, including high informality, limited formal job creation in strategic sectors such as agriculture, and persistent labor inclusion gaps for women and young people. The study concludes that post-pandemic economic recovery requires comprehensive public policies focused on labor formalization, productive diversification, and strengthening rural-urban infrastructure to promote quality employment in the region.
