COMPOSIÇÃO FÍSICO-ESPACIAL DA ARQUITETURA CIVIL DO SÉCULO XIX EM SÃO LUÍS DO MARANHÃO

Nesse estudo analisa-se a composição físico-espacial do patrimônio edificado no século XIX, em São Luís do Maranhão, considerando-se os materiais e as diversas técnicas construtivas utilizadas ao longo do século XIX, assim como sua composição de fachada, volumetria e distribuição dos ambientes internos. A técnica construtiva desse período é de origem portuguesa, pois em particular a sociedade de São Luís, devido à grande atividade mercantilista de exportação de algodão e arroz para a metrópole, também importava produtos que seguiam a moda e costumes do reino

  • Abstract: This study analyzes the physical-spatial composition of the built heritage in the nineteenth century, in São Luís do Maranhão, considering the materials and the various construction techniques used throughout the nineteenth century, as well as its façade composition, volumetry and distribution of internal environments. The construction technique of this period is of Portuguese origin, because in particular the society of São Luís, due to the great mercantilist activity of exporting cotton and rice to the metropolis, also imported products that followed the fashion and customs of the kingdom
