COMO MENDEL SE INTERESSOU PELA HERANÇA DAS CARACTERÍSTICAS?
Johann Gregor Mendel após a publicação do seu trabalho passou para a História como o fundador da Genética (termo criado posteriormente). Entretanto, há lacunas na caminhada que fez desde a cátedra de Física na Universidade de Viena até as suas palestras para defesa de sua tese em 1865. Mesmo que haja muitos escritos sobre Mendel, ainda não se obteve concretude sobre o que o levou a trabalhar com ervilhas. Duas publicações em jornais locais podem dar uma pista sobre isso e demonstrar quem mais influenciou Mendel a delinear experimentos e chegar às leis da herança das características. É o que nos propomos nessa revisão baseada em fontes primárias e secundárias.

Abstract:
Johann Gregor Mendel after the publication of his work went down in history as the founder of Genetics (a term created later). However, there are gaps in the journey he made from the chair of Physics at the University of Vienna to his lectures to defend his thesis in 1865. Even though there are many writings on Mendel, there is still no concreteness about what led him to work with peas. Two publications in local newspapers can give a clue about this and demonstrate who most influenced Mendel to design experiments and arrive at the laws of the inheritance of characteristics. This is what we propose in this review based on primary and secondary sources.
