Abstract: The declared practice was designed to improve the concepts of geographic coordinates and time zones in Basic Education in six 1st year classes of Integrated High School at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET – MG), Campus I, in Belo Horizonte, in the Geography discipline. The challenge posed to each student was to build a paper globe using the japanese technique known as architectural origami (also known as kirigami), reinforcing the learning previously carried out and verified through a diagnostic assessment of the basic concepts os school cartography. Furthermore, the globe, once finished, becomes a personalized teaching material of value to each student, in addition to the fact that the card itself has an attached exercise. In this activity, the motivation (challenge), the playful, the artistic, the cognitive and the reinforcement of the proposed topics were articulated, helping the student’s overall training and verifying architectural origami as a potentially significant material in the teaching of Geography in the context reported.
