“Ciência e Religiosidade/Espiritualidade: Uma área em desenvolvimento”

O modelo biomédico sempre separou a ciência da fé. Recentemente, têm-se levado em consideração o conceito de saúde preconizado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde de que saúde consiste em “completo bem estar físico, mental e social”. Para isso começou-se associar a qualidade de vida e saúde à religiosidade e à espiritualidade, e os estudos nessa área vêm crescendo. Este estudo tem a proposta de fazer uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema ciência e religiosidade/espiritulidade, pois o clínico deve estar atento á dimensão espiritual do paciente. O conhecimento científico e prático do assunto pode evitar conflitos na relação médico-paciente, beneficiar desfechos clínicos e facilitar o atendimento médico. O objetivo geral é contribuir para o aprofundamento do tema da influência da religiosidade/espiritualidade na saúde e qualidade de vida dos pacientes.O tipo de estudo é uma revisão de literatura, caracterizada pela análise da produção bibliográfica em determinada área temática. Os critérios de inclusão foram artigos indexados em português, disponíveis em qualquer período, dos portais de periódicos Scielo e Google Acadêmico, publicados a partir de 2000. Foram localizado artigos a partir dos descritores relacionados: a)”religiosidade”+”saúde”; b)”espiritualidade”+”saúde”. Foram excluídos os que constavam apenas em resumos; os que tratassem de religiosidade/espiritualidade e saúde sem analisar a correlação entre ambas; e os que citassem os descritores, mas que esses não fossem o foco do estudo. Os que se adequaram aos critérios de inclusão tiveram seus conteúdos analisados para a síntese de suas colaborações. Após esse processo, 10 foram selecionados para o presente estudo

Abstract:

The biomedical model has always separated science from faith. Recently, the concept of health advocated by the World Health Organization has taken into account that health consists of “complete physical, mental and social well-being”. To this end, it began to associate quality of life and health with religiosity and spirituality, and studies in this area have been growing. This study has the proposal to make a bibliographic review on the theme science and religiosity / spirituality, because the clinician must be aware of the patient's spiritual dimension. Scientific and practical knowledge of the subject can avoid conflicts in the doctor-patient relationship, benefit clinical outcomes and facilitate medical care. The general objective is to contribute to the deepening of the theme of the influence of religiosity / spirituality on the health and quality of life of patients. The type of study is a literature review, characterized by the analysis of bibliographic production in a given thematic area. The inclusion criteria were articles indexed in Portuguese, available at any time, from the Scielo and Google Acadêmico periodical portals, published since 2000. Articles were found from the related descriptors: a) ”religiosity” + ”health”; b) "spirituality" + "health". Those that were only included in abstracts were excluded; those dealing with religiosity / spirituality and health without analyzing the correlation between both; and those that cited the descriptors, but that these were not the focus of the study. Those that met the inclusion criteria had their content analyzed for the synthesis of their collaborations. After this process, 10 were selected for the present study
