CAUSES OF EVASION OF A COURSE FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN DISTANCE EDUCATION
O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as possíveis causas da evasão de um curso de atualização para profissionais de saúde na modalidade a distância de uma escola de formação em saúde no município de Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. Pesquisa qualitativa e documental realizada a partir da análise do Projeto Pedagógico e do Ambiente Virtual de Aprendizagem de um curso de formação em saúde. Os resultados evidenciaram como causas de evasão a utilização de material denso e extenso, concepção instrucionista e avaliação pontual com teste ao final dos módulos. Sugerem-se algumas contribuições para os gestores da Educação a Distância que podem contribuir para redução deste evento, a saber: potencializar o papel pedagógico das tecnologias da informação e comunicação através da realização de atividades síncronas e assíncronas, o professor atuar como mediador do processo ensino-aprendizagem, utilizar material didático diversificado e elaborado por professores especialistas na área, realizar avaliação que possibilite acompanhar o desenvolvimento do discente de forma contínua contemplando todos os elementos envolvidos no processo ensino aprendizagem. Em uma perspectiva mais ampla, com estas contribuições, espera-se subsidiar os gestores para que trabalhem com uma equipe mínima de Educação a Distância na implantação de estratégias que fortaleça a gestão desta modalidade de educação.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to analyze the possible causes for the evasion of an update course for health professionals in the distance modality of a health training school in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Qualitative and documentary research carried out from the analysis of the Pedagogical Project and the Virtual Learning Environment of a health training course. The results showed, as causes of evasion, the use of dense and extensive material, instructional design and punctual evaluation with testing at the end of the modules. It is suggested some contributions for the managers of Distance Education that can contribute to reduce this event, namely, to enhance the pedagogical role of information and communication technologies through the performance of synchronous and asynchronous activities, the teacher acting as a mediator of the teaching process learning, use of didactic material diversified and elaborated by professors specialized in the area, carrying out an evaluation that makes it possible to monitor the student's development in a continuous way to contemplate all the elements involved in the teaching-learning process. In a broader perspective, with these contributions it is expected to subsidize managers who work with a minimum distance education team in the implementation of strategies that strengthen the management of this type of education.
