Abstract: This article analyzes 21st-century historiography as a "distorted reflection" of the critical legacy of the late 20th century. Drawing on the deconstruction of grand narratives and the "cultural-linguistic turn" (Foucault, Perrot), which fragmented historical knowledge, the article investigates how this openness was converted into a new thematic canon in the university environment. It argues that the hegemony of approaches focused on identity-based issues—such as studies of indigenous peoples, ethnic-racial relations, and gender dynamics—operates a narrowing of the discipline's theoretical and methodological framework. The analysis criticizes how this thematic concentration, by becoming an almost exclusive horizon, risks transforming the writing of history (Certeau) into an instrument for validating present-day demands (Hartog), nullifying the otherness of the past. The article demonstrates that such instrumentalization leads to the creation of a new metanarrative of oppression, contradicting the skepticism that gave rise to the movement. Finally, the proposal is not to deny new themes, but rather to urgently rescue the complexity and rigor of the craft, reaffirming the value of History as a critical discipline and not merely a validator of identities.
