• Abstract: In this article, we review the efforts promoted by the United Nations (UN) since the transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recent reports indicate that the world is not on track to achieve the 17 SDGs by 2030. In this context, we present the efforts of the Copenhagen Consensus, which employs cost-benefit analyses to prioritize 12 global interventions. We demonstrate that these 12 interventions can have a positive and more realistic impact. This pragmatic approach can aid in achieving the sustainable development goals, especially for the world's poorest populations.
