Abstract: This project investigates the communicability of the student module of the Integrated System for Academic Activities Management (SIGAA), widely used in Brazilian higher education. The research applies the Communicability Evaluation Method (CEM), from Semiotic Engineering, to identify breakdowns in user–system interaction. The study follows an exploratory design, observing students performing typical tasks in SIGAA and collecting qualitative data, including signs of communicability breakdown and responses to usability questionnaires. The results provide insight into the main difficulties faced by users and serve as a basis for suggestions for future interface improvements. This work contributes to understanding user experience in academic digital systems and demonstrates the application of CEM as a tool for communicability evaluation.
