• Abstract: Introduction: Currently, child sexual violence presents itself as an epidemic, constituting a serious social and public health problem. This aspect is complex, affecting all social layers, genders, races, and ethnicities, being one of the main forms of transgression of children's rights. Faced with this problem, the Primary Health Care Nurse (PHC) assumes the responsibility for preventing, identifying, coordinating care, and reporting suspected or confirmed cases of violence. Objective: To evaluate the role of Primary Health Care (PHC) nurses in assisting children who are victims of sexual violence. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, with a qualitative and exploratory approach. Results: Based on the literature analysis, four thematic areas were outlined to be discussed, namely: I) Identification of cases of child sexual violence by PHC nurses; II) Lack of preparation in decision-making in cases of child sexual violence; III) Importance of prevention and health promotion led by PHC nurses; IV) Academic training and continuing education as strategies to overcome the challenges faced. Conclusion: Although Primary Health Care (PHC) is a privileged locus for combating sexual violence perpetrated against a child, nurses face enormous challenges when providing care to these victims, often falling short of what is recommended. This problem needs to be addressed within undergraduate nursing curricula, in addition to investing in training that encourages the identification and reporting of these cases.
