Abstract: Soil quality is a tool that, in many cases, can be used to indicate its condition. Therefore, certain attributes have been identified as indicators of its quality. Physical and chemical attributes are used in various studies to determine whether the soil is moving toward sustainability or degradation. Among the chemical attributes that indicate soil quality are: levels and stocks of carbon and nitrogen; fractions of soil organic matter; pH; electrical conductivity; phosphorus (P); potassium (K); calcium (Ca); magnesium (Mg); cation exchange capacity (CEC); hydrogen (H); and H+Al, among others. Among the physical attributes of the soil, the following can be mentioned: texture; root depth; soil density; water infiltration in the soil; soil water storage capacity and water retention; soil water content; soil temperature; soil aggregation, and others. Based on the data obtained from these quality indicators, it is possible to implement agricultural practices capable of reducing soil degradation and improving its quality.
