Abstract: The current exponential population aging observed worldwide has increased the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. As a therapeutic alternative, cinecoronary angiography is performed in hemodynamic services, where the nurse’s role in care and health service management is essential. This study aimed to identify the nurse’s responsibilities in a hemodynamic unit. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in the second semester of 2023 with three nurses working in the hemodynamic unit of a large hospital in Northwestern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Data were collected through individually scheduled recorded interviews, transcribed, and analyzed using content analysis. The research complied with ethical principles. Results showed that 66% (n=2) had 6 to 10 years of experience in the sector and specialized in hemodynamics and cardiology. The responsibilities identified included care management—such as applying the nursing process during the perioperative period, implementing preventive measures, responding to complications, and providing post-procedure guidance—as well as service management, involving material provision, equipment maintenance, and staff coordination. It is concluded that the nurse’s role in a high-complexity service such as a hemodynamic unit is relatively new and filled with challenges, particularly regarding the risk of clinical complications, necessary interventions, and especially the shortage of qualified professionals, which may compromise the quality, safety, and timeliness of care.
