Abstract: This study presents a systematic review of the antimicrobial activities of bioactive compounds isolated from the genus Miconia (Melastomataceae). It highlights the importance of exploring species of this genus, which exhibit broad chemical diversity and therapeutic potential, especially in light of the challenge of microbial resistance. Studies published between 2015 and 2025 were analyzed, identifying seven main bioactive compounds, including triterpenes, flavonoids, and phenolic acids, with inhibitory activities against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Despite the promising potential, there is a lack of in-depth studies on phytoconstituents and mechanisms of action, reinforcing the need for more standardized research to validate and expand the therapeutic use of these species. Thus, continued investigation of compounds of the genus Miconia is essential for the development of new antimicrobial agents in the face of the growing problem of microbial resistance.
